Nokia On Lookout For New CEO

In terms of market share Nokia is still amongst the big guns in the mobile phone world, but with rivals such as Research In Motion and Apple constantly snapping at Nokia’s heels, the Finish company seems to be falling somewhat behind.

Thus according to an article over on Intomobile by Marc Flores, Nokia is looking to change direction and in doing so is on the lookout to replace their current CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo. This news comes via the Wall Street Journal who quotes the usual “people familiar with the situation.”

An extract from the WSJ report goes like this…“They are serious about making a change,” one person familiar with the matter said. Nokia board members are “supposed to make a decision by the end of the month,” that person said.

“The CEO of a major U.S. high-tech company recently spurned Nokia’s approach after meeting with Chairman Jorma Ollila, because the candidate wasn’t interested in moving to Finland, this person said. Nokia also has flown in at least one other U.S. based executive to interview for the CEO job,” the person said.

Apparently Nokia is in quite a hurry to change CEO’s because as stated in the report a decision by Nokia board members will be made by the end of the month.
