Asurion Verizon Droid Claims: D1 Devices No Replacement!

If you own Verizon Motorola Droid D1 devices you will be a little unhappy if you thought you would get a replacement, according to Asurion the original Droid that has been marked up as “end of life” status is already here.

According to Droid-Life many emails have flooding in from readers trying to make claims for their broken Droids, the sad part is that when they tried to make these claims they were told that it is not in production anymore by Motorola and would have to choose another device.

Basically in a nutshell, Droid owners are paying between $6 to $8 per month for Asurion insurance, and with this fee they would get protection for their devices and would be covered for replacements,

Now seeing as the Motorola D1 in no longer in production you cannot get a replacement, which means you would have to choose either the LG Ally, Droid Eris or the Motorola Devour, you are basically getting the choice of Android 1.6 or MotoBlur now.

So for those that own the D1 phone it is not happening if you want to make a claim and receive the same device. If anyone can give us more information on the above that would be fantastic. Please post all your comments below, thanks.

This article was written in July. However, I had the Droid 1 that I purchased in August and dropped in in the ocean in November and Asurion replaced it with the same phone. i had no problem getting a replacement. However, the replacement phone has its own problems. I didn't realize that they replaced with refurbished phones.
