So remember that PlayStation phone that’s been doing the rounds lately, well apparently the PlayStation phone may just become a member of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia line when the device finally sees the light of day.

According to an article over on Slash Gear and by way of Pocket Now, Sony Ericsson has filed for trademarks on 4 Xperia brands one of which is apparently the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and this has led to the current rumour that the PlayStation phone may come out to play as the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

The PlayStation phone is currently referred to as the Z1 due to the codename Zeus, and runs the Android operating system, but Xperia Play would probably do just as well for the name of the device although nothing has been confirmed in any way shape or form.

As for the other 3 brand filings they are apparently the Xperia Arc, Xperia Duo and Xperia Neo, none of which bring any new Sony Ericsson smartphones jumping into the mind but who knows we may well hear about those along with some official titbits on the PlayStation/Xperia Play during Mobile World Congress 2011.
