RIM BlackBerry PlayBook Launch May Be Delayed

For any of the BlackBerry faithful out there that may be patiently awaiting the arrival of Research In Motion’s first tablet, the BlackBerry PlayBook, unfortunately you just might have an extra long wait on your hands before you can pick up the device.

According to an article over on the Boy Genius Report by Zach Epstein, Shaw Wu, an analyst for Kaufman Brothers has stated that Research In Motion may be force to delay the launch of the new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.

Apparently the reason Wu gives for the possible launch delay is that he has been hearing that the BlackBerry PlayBook “needs to improve its relatively poor battery life of a few hours compared to 6 hours for the Samsung Galaxy Tab and 10 hours for [Apple’s] iPad.”

So when does Wu expects the BlackBerry PlayBook to actually become available? Apparently he believes that the device will be delayed until sometime in May of next year and that the battery problem might stem from its QNX OS being designed for use where battery life isn’t a problem such as automobiles.

So there you have it, although analysts have been known to be wrong at times, but if true it looks like potential owners of the BlackBerry PlayBook have a while to wait yet; annoyed or not?
