Gingerbread 2.3 Sony Ericsson ANZU Pictured

Sony Ericsson seems to be somewhat slipping behind in the high end smartphone stakes these days, so one has to wonder if they will be able to come up with a new smartphone that might be able to hold its own against the likes of the iPhone or numerous HTC devices such as the HTC Desiire HD.

According to an article over on Gizmodo by Kay Hannaford, the Xperia X10 blog has leaked an image of what is purported to be the successor to the Xperia X10, the Sony Ericsson ANZU smartphone and will be Sony Ericsson’s next flagship device.

It is of course possible the device may see a name change as ANZU could well be just the codename; however the image shows that the Sony Ericsson ANZU runs Android 2.1, but apparently the source has said that when the device launches it will run Google’s latest OS Gingerbread 2.3.

As for spec for the Sony Ericsson ANZU, well there isn’t much available but apparently it is one real slim device that packs a 4.3 inch screen and will have an HDMI output added at some point; more on this as and when we hear.
