Nokia N95 8GB hands on review: What do we think plus full specs & photos

Now we have our hands on the Nokia N95 8GB it is only fair we give you a hands on review and tell you what we think, we got our hands on this mobile marvel at the Symbian Smartphone Show 2007 in London and it was unmissable really considering it was right near the entrance/exit point, so we got there and had a play around.

We have put all the main specs below so you know exactly what the N95 8GB phone has plus there are some pictures which we took as well. Sorry for the quality of the pictures, do not know what went wrong but I do know I will never become a photographer.

Anyway looked at the mobile phone for a bit and pondered to myself “Do I really like the style? Some thoughts later and must say yes, “Do I like the feel of the Nokia N95 8GB? And more thoughts later and the answer is yes.

I was pretty shocked really because I sure did have in my head that this phone is going to be bulky, ugly and heavy but must say I really do like it, “Would I buy one? DEFINITELY. The main things that impressed me was the fact it is Symbian OS 9.2, S60 rel. 3.1 based and that which is a little obvious 8GB storage. I also love the fact it has a 5 megapixel camera which take perfect pictures.

When we was at this show people were flocking around it wanting to check it out, so we just walked around chatting to people then came back to the Nokia N95 8GB when is was a little quiter.

All in all the Nokia N95 8GB mobile smartphone is indeed a very cool phone and would definitely recommend it to consumers.

Bought one three days ago. Main camera broke down within 1 photo and no cover means the lens was smeared. BIOS needed updating. GPS doesn’t work at all without A-GPS therefore Packet Data network access (despite the spec) and and when the data network was up it wasn’t that accurate. Returned it this morning and will take a minimum of a week to fix/replace. WiFi is very dodgy. I could go on.. But why waste my breath (or fingers in this case. So much for Nokia’s great phone design capability. Save your money for something else, anything else.

My phone works perfectly! Faster and more responsive than the N95 original and Wifi and GPS are faster with better signals. An all round improvement and success!

  3. Naz says:

the n95 8gb is a fantastic phone better than the original in every way, better larger screen, better buttons, better slide, better battery, a lot more ram never crashes or says memory full no matter how hard you try. Build is very good not a single squeak or rattle. The only downside is no memory card slot a shame really but 8gb should be sufficient for most. Its what nokia should have made from the start. The best multimedia converged phone nothing else comes close. Its what computers should have been

  4. Rovex says:

It should be noted that the lens cover is scratch proof glass, its coated like some plastic spectacles are. Naz you must have a duff phone, mine has been perfect. Wifi is excellent, it picks up things my PC with a foot long 12db antenna cant! GPS work without network access perfectly well, and is faster to lock on that my TomTom.

Well to give you guys a heads up the volume on this cell phone is crystal clear but not that loud. There are a few glitches such as some of the buttons make sctiching sounds and the slide isnt that durable and the WiFi is extremely slow.

  8. Charles London says:

I have had mine four weeks and the last three times turned on it has come up with white scree ” unable to load start up data ” i have turnd it off and on again and it loaded 2nd time but concerned it is going wrong already.

  9. I think that Nokia N95 8GB is the best mobile phone i have ever seen. Its technical characteristics are more then impressive. But one thing borders me, its to high price. It could be a little lower, but everything else is just fascinating.

I’ve had the N95 8gb for about a year now, and I’m sorry to say it’s the WORST phone I have owned. I got it to replace the N90 (second worst phone I owned).
I have had problems with the N95 from day one. It crashes several times a day, meaning I have to remove the battery to turn it back on. This can happen a few times an hour.

The keys seem very slow to act when you press them, sometimes they dont seem to work at all.

I do have to admit that the phone is impressive when it works for me. The screen is superb, and very clear.

The memory is fantastic, I no longer need a seperate MP3 as the N95 stores more than enough music. Its just a shame that it’s the music player that seems to crash the most.

If anyone was thinking of buying a N series phone from Nokia, I would have to advise them against it, as the two I have had (N90 & N95) have been very disapointing. It’s even put me off buying another Nokia phone.

    Sorry Nokia!
