News Update: Microsoft buys Musiwave for staggering $50 million

Following on from the recent news back on November 13th 2007 where we told you about Microsoft acquired the right to buy Musiwave SA from Openwave Systems Inc: possible acquisition which you can see here, well now the latest is that that Microsoft have in fact picked up Musiwave for a staggering $50 million.

Openwave System have the smiles on their faces now as they can look forward in running a learner operation starting now and as Microsoft have officially agreed to lift its Musiwave subsidiary off their hands for a staggering $50 million, well to be precise it is $46 million that will be put into Openwave’s bank account plus $4 million will be debt that giants Microsoft will assume.

The two companies said and in fact made known that they were in some exclusive talks and apparently that 72 hours was not enough time for Redmond to pull the trigger, this was all 3 days prior to this announcement.

This amazing purchase will now give Microsoft access to some valuable relationships with exclusive music labels, device makers and even mobile operators that will indeed deliver digital entertainment to consumers. What we really want to know and of course all the above is interesting but what will we all see, I mean what will the firm really plan to do with the new acquisition?
