Femtocell Solutions for 3G LTE and WiMAX receives New OmniRadio Processor

RFN, RadioFrame Networks, has announced their plans for a second gen OmniRadio processor which will bring low cost high functionality femtocell products to LTE, Long Term Evolution, and WiMAX networks. Last year RadioFrame launched their OmniRadio processor, its first silicon solution which was developed exclusively for the femtocell marketplace. The OmniRadio processor gives wireless carriers a cost advantage and is the industry’s only combined 2G/3G femtocell being marketed today.

RadioFrame CEO Jeff Brown had this to say: “RadioFrame is unique with our approach of an upgradeable platform solution that lets a wireless network provider implement femtocells in 2G, 3G and 4G networks and upgrade those same femtocells remotely as requirements for standards change. With our OmniRadioTM processor we not only offer wireless carriers a distinct cost advantage, we also offer the only software based, upgradeable femtocell solution in the industry today. We are designing the RadioFrame solution to be both the first and last femtocell product that a carrier would ever need to deploy.”

This second-gen OmniRadio processor has a wealth of system and software wireless technology and intellectual property developed by RFN, which provides solutions which allow media and high-speed data apps, and triple play voice, and is based on cutting edge silicon technology that brings excellent performance-to-cost ratio in a single chip which supports 2G, 3G, WiMAX and LTE networks.

RadioFrame was recently named as ABI Research’s most innovative femcell vendor finishing on top of ABI’s innovation category that judged cost advantages, plug-and-play capabilities, scalability, solution maturity, service security, multimode cellular support capabilities along with future proof upgrade paths. One of the leading voices in the femtocell market, ABI forcasts there will be in excess of 100 million femtocell users across the world by 2011.

RadioFrame VP of Engineering, Greg Veintimillia said: “We are continuing to develop silicon solutions that enable our customers to truly open up the wireless market in the home. We firmly believe that cost sensitivities, coupled with a need for high performance requirements, are mandating highly integrated solutions. LTE and WiMAX will push that envelope even further and we are convinced the OmniRadioTM II processor makes RadioFrame uniquely positioned to make the most of these opportunities.”
