Second 3G auction by Germany in 09

Next Year, Germany will launch a second round of 3G auctions that will see both incumbents and new entrants participate, which could possible result in putting more pressure on existing license holders.

Apparently the word is this second round of 3G auctions will provide operators with a wider spectrum range in the 1.8 and 2.6 gighertz range; in which the operators will be able to offer further bandwidth-intensive services like music and video downloads and mobile TV.

The original auction was held back in 2000 and raised a record 51 billion Euros, roughly $73.98 billion and thus making it the most expensive in Europe.
