Motorola to deploy WiMax for wi-tribe in Pakistan

Motorola has announced they have signed a multi-year contract for WiMax with wi-tribe Pakistan Ltd, an all new wireless broadband Internet provider to enter the country. Motorola is to supply the infrastructure and services package enabling cost effective services for wi-tribe customers.

CEO of wi-tribe Pakistan limited, Mohammad Sadiq, says: “WiMAX is changing the way people are connecting and is opening doors to a new world of opportunities. We will be offering high-speed Internet that is simple, affordable, and a portable alternative to fixed broadband. The Motorola WiMAX solution frees customers from the fixed line services.”

Motorola is to start deploying wi-tribe’s WiMAX network from this month in the 3.5GHz spectrum, and is expecting a commercial launch during 2009.
