New iPhone and Palm Pre expected release sets market bustling

The Apple iPhone has been the number one selling smartphone for the last two quarters, yet Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Curve outsold the iPhone in the 1st quarter of 09. However, Apple isn’t too worried as the mobile market is bustling with excitement over the upcoming new iPhone and of course the Palm Pre, reports product-reviews.

NPD has reported that the reason the RIM BlackBerry Curve outsold the iPhone in the 1st quarter of 09 was due to a Verizon Wireless “bye-one-get-one-free” promo, and that 4 carriers carry the BlackBerry Curve while the iPhone is only available on AT&T.

If the new iPhone 2009 is released then it will no doubt place Apple back as number one, but with the Palm Pre waiting on the sidelines and expected to launch around about the same time, there may well be a battle for that number one spot.
