Apps: Apple wins appeal with the advertising watchdog

Apple is now free to advertise their App Store and iPhone 3GS is the best there is as Apple wins an appeal with the Advertising Standards Authority over their advert for the iPhone 3GS, reports pcpro

The iPhone 3GS advert showed off several of the iPhone applications and ended with the line “Only on the iPhone,” which 10 viewers complained about stating that the Android platform can also access similar applications.

Apple defended their claim as the offending line followed the phrase “there’s an app for just about everything,” and the fact that there are 50,000 apps in the App Store. The ASA upheld Apple’s appeal stating they consider viewers would recognise the claim “Only on the iPhone” to mean the range of apps available in the App Store.
