HTC 2009 revenue to fall due to handset delays

HTC is expecting revenue to fall this year due to delayed product launches, lower than expected sales in the China market and a larger than expected drop in contract orders reports the WSJ.

On Friday HTC said it expects revenue for 2009 to fall by a low to mid-single digit percentage; they had expected a 10 percent increase. Last year HTC revenue rose some 29 percent to $152.56 billion Taiwanese dollars, roughly $4.65 billion US.

Yuanta Securities analyst Vincent Chen has said that the outlook has softened for the 2ng half of 09, and June was the turning point for HTC while facing a great deal of competition from Apple.
