Apple and Intel Light Peak port for iPhone?

Apparently, Apple gave a new optical port connection specification to Intel and after some heated debate and such, has now produced Light Peak, reports an article over on engadget .

Word is Apple will intro the new standard in the fall of 2010 for their Macs which are destined for back to school buyers, and the word is after the initial roll out, Apple plans to roll out a low power version in 2011 for mobile phones and handhelds.

Plans from October 2007 show a roadmap which features Light Peak being introduced to the iPhone and iPod platform which will serve as a gateway for networking and multimedia outputs. For the full report hit up the link.
