HTC Hero to gain Android 2.0 update confirms HTC

If you are packing an Android platform mobile phone and are getting a tad jealous over the new Android 2.0 packing Motorola Droid, you just might want to hold off a while before rushing out and switching smartphones and carrier.

According to an article on engadet mobile, HTC is working on pushing out Android 2.0 Éclair to the HTC Hero, and apparently this requires a bit of time to update Sense for the latest Android OS.

So this means that the HTC Hero is definitely getting Android 2.0 Éclair at some point once Sense is ported and tested. Furthermore HTC has said they intend to bring the Android 2.0 update to all HTC Hero versions, no word on other handsets as yet though.

Eclair is an awesome OS. I can totally understand why they would want this upgrade.

I can’t wait to get my hands on a new Android phone myself.
