Since the Nokia N900 was released this is the first software update that will be available soon, this update prepares the opening of the Ovi Store.

All users of the Nokia N900 can now get this update via Nokia Software Update app on your PC or as an over-the-air update, this update should be available sometime today. If you are connected to the internet you will receive notification within the Nokia N900’s Status Area saying that a software update of Maemo 5 is available.

This is just a minor update to get itself ready for the launch of the Maemo-flavored Ovi Store; apparently according to Engadget the Ovi Store is now accessible from the device at store.ovi.mobi
