Verizon Wireless LTE services on track to launch on time

Great news for those following the route of Verizon’s LTE services as it would appear that things are going to plan.

Verizon Wireless is expected to be launching the LTE services across 25 to 30 different cities by the end of this year. According to Verizon Group CTO Dick Lynch they are on schedule for this to be achieved by the said date.

Traditionally the company have been a CDMA operator, until now making the move to the GSM technology and has currently been running trials working with both Alcatel – Lucent and Ericsson. Lynch said that they are currently on the fourth phase which is the final stage.

The trial systems are using equipment from Starent and Nokia Siemens Networks, and there is a great deal of interest from appliance makers in the idea of putting LTE devices in their equipment. LTE will be in reach of 100 million people by the end of the year. Source – globaltelecomsbusiness.com
