Funnily enough I would have though that Apple would have done this quite a while ago, but apparently not, however it has now been rectified as the word is Apple has now launched an official Twitter account for the App Store.

According to an article over on Intomobile by Simon Sage and by way of Tech Crunch, the new App Store account first tweeted “Welcome to App Store on Twitter! Follow us to discover new apps, get exclusive offers, and share with friends. #appstore.”

Apparently the new @AppStore account has 3000 followers presently and word has it the account hasn’t yet been verified, so there’s always a chance it could possible be fake. Having said that as iTunes Music and iTunes TV are both following @AppStore one can presume it to be legit.

Presumably the @AppStore will be used to promote apps for the iPhone and Apple iPad along with any specials the store may be running, so no doubt that 3000 following will quickly rise.
