Update: iPhone 5 Event Being Held On Apple Home Turf

As all the iOS faithful will know, Apple is holding an event on the 4th of October, an event that is rumoured to see the announcement of the next generation iPhone, whether that be the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 Plus, all or any remains to be seen. However the one thing Apple won’t be doing is making that much-awaited announcement off their home turf.

According to an article over on Apple Insider, by way of AllThingsD, the word is Apple has decided to forgo their usual Moscone or Yerba Buena venue this time round in favour of a “more intimate setting” at Apple’s campus in Cupertino.

Although just why Apple has decided to make the next iPhone announcement on their home turf is unclear, however apparently one reason could be that Oracle’s OpenWorld has the Moscone Centre from the 2nd to the 6th of October.

Whatever the reason, it appears that Apple has decided to use the Apple Town Hall auditorium for the event, a venue that can only fit in something like a few hundred rather than the thousands Moscone or Yerba Buena can house.

However, despite the size of the Town Hall auditorium, Apple has previously held events there, the most recent being last year when Apple addressed the iPhone 4 antennagate issue.

It is expected that Apple will dish all the dirt on iOS 5, along with unveiling the iPhone 5 at the October 4th event, however perhaps choosing their smaller home ground venue might mean Apple isn’t ready to unveil that iPhone 5 as recent rumour has it Apple may only announce a moderately upgraded iPhone that isn’t much different to the current iPhone 4.
