RIM PlayBook confirmed to receive BlackBerry 10

If you happen to own the Research In Motion BlackBerry PlayBook, obviously you should be currently running the recently released QNX based PlayBook OS 2.0, however it appears that PlayBook owner can now look forward to another operating system update for their RIM slate in the form of BlackBerry 10.

According to the guys over at Pocket Now by way of Tech Radar, Research In Motion vice president of product management, Rob Orr has now gone on record as confirming that the BlackBerry 10 software will be pushed to the BlackBerry PlayBook after the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone is launched.

However, BlackBerry PlayBook owners shouldn’t become too excited and expect BlackBerry 10 to hit their slate any time soon because the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone, rumoured to be the BlackBerry London, is due for quite some time yet and more than likely to be sometime near the end of the year.

Something that Orr reiterated by saying that RIM has publicly on a number of occasions said BlackBerry 10 handsets will arrive toward the end of 2012, and that is still the case.

And that’s about your lot, so at least owners of the BlackBerry PlayBook now know that their tablet will eventually play nice with BlackBerry 10 albeit not really knowing what improvement the new OS might bring to the slate and of course having to wait for quite a while to do so.

Does this new excite any of our readers that own a BlackBerry PlayBook, if so feel free to voice your excitement to our comments area below.
