Galaxy S3 gets sales boost in US after verdict

There seems to have been a nice little unexpected side effect following the jury verdict that found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple patents, as it appears that right after the verdict came in, sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3 received a boost over in the good old US of A with people rushing out to purchase the Android smartphone.

According to an article over on Phone Arena, a report on Forbes has it that the managing director of equity research for Global Equities Research, Trip Chowdhry paid a visit to 5 AT&T stores after the verdict came in Friday night, and was informed that sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3 had been ‘significant’ after the verdict.

The analyst also visited 5 Sprint and 3 Verizon locations, and since the verdict, the Android smartphone has outsold the iPhone 4S at all those locations, although 2 Sprint locations had sold out of the Galaxy S3, Verizon stores still had stock.

On visiting 3 Costco shops, Chowdhry found that 2 stores had sold out of both the T-Mobile and AT&T versions of the device, whilst the third store still had stock of the T-Mobile variant, but the AT&T model was out of stock.

Of course the unexpected boost in US sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3 could have come due to people thinking that the SGS3 would be affected by the verdict, although only older devices are actually affected, and of course with the unveiling of the iPhone 5 rapidly approaching, it remains to be seen if the Galaxy S3 will still be able to compete once the new iOS smartphone is released.

The analyst is said to still stand by his belief, regardless of present or future sales that Samsung and Apple will reach a cross licensing deal.
