The WeChat Android app has today received an update that offers many new features and improvements to users. WeChat version 5.2 is now live on the Google Play Store and is a free app compatible with devices running Android 2.1 or later.

This is an extremely popular app offering free texting, voice messages and also video calls, push notifications for message alerts, sharing abilities and more. It works over the existing data plan of your device or via any Wi-Fi connection.

Changes with version 5.2 include a revamped user interface, real-time location sharing with walkie talkie, chat history search, notifications if users are mentioned in group chat, and the ability to share sticker sets with your friends.

You can now link your LinkedIn account, and better image browsing in chats is also offered. There are also improvements to audio and video quality and more reliable call connection. Minor feature enhancements include double tapping on chat messages for an enlarged view.
