Windows Phone 7 Restricted to just 3 Chassis Variants

Under: Phone Software
Date: February 24th, 2010

Apparently Windows Phone 7 hardware is going to be only three chassis variants according to Microsoft Australia Developer Evangelists who host the Frankly Speaking podcast reports an article on gizomdo via zdnet.

The word is the first chassis sporting Windows Phone 7 will be the touch screen handset with 1GHz Snapdragon processor which was showcased during Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona, and these Windows Phone 7 phones will be the first out of the gate.

The second chassis to sport Windows Phone 7 will be a keyboard variant which apparently will feature sliding keyboards and touch screens and are apparently according to said article more similar to that of the Palm Treo.

The third chassis to support Windows Phone 7 remains a mystery at this point as there are no details available. However, with 3 variants virtually locked down it will be interesting to see just how manufacturers add their own twist to the Windows Phone 7 system.
