Nokia N8 Symbian^3 Battles iPhone 4 iOS on Video

We have a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure today which pits Nokia’s newest and finest against Apple’s newest and finest in a battle between the Nokia N8 and the iPhone 4, or Symbian^3 verses iOS.

The videos come our way courtesy of Jay Montano over at My Nokia Blog with both videos lasting almost ten minutes each, so gives us a good twenty minutes of Nokia N8 Symbian^3 comparison to the iPhone 4 iOS.

Montano notes that although the ‘glitzy’ user interface of the iPhone 4 is undeniably good, there’s apparently nothing underneath that Symbian^3 can’t accomplish due to being a more mature platform.

Still Nokia fans will opt for the Nokia N8 and Symbian^3 while Apple fans will plump for the iPhone 4 and iOS. So basically the only way to find out for yourself is to set some time aside, head on down, mash those play buttons and enjoy the videos.

wow, the N8 looks absolutely terrible. Incredible that a company like Nokia can still produce such rubbish despite having so long to get it right. Only die hard Nokia fans will go for the N8. Everyone else in the market will do a comparison with other handsets and either go iPhone or Android (or WinPhone7 – that could potentially be quite nice).

Nokia has been riding the wave of customer loyalty in the smartphone market for years now, but their products have been well below the standards set by Apple, HTC etc. If this is the best they can do, I think they may as well quite the smartphone market now and stick to low end handsets.

why the hell doesn't nokia adopt android like HTC did and begin with a new slate.. i'm pretty sure that nokia's new CEO knows the difference between the best nokia phone and an iphone 2g.. i bet he uses a blackberry or an iphone !

this was an older video with a prototype

Both are beautiful phones, I'm a Nokia Fan Boy but i was impressed by the Iphone4 although i don't think its worth anywhere near what Apple is asking for it, sim-free

On the other hand with what the N8 offers i expected it to be priced, sim-free @ the price Iphone4 is but its not! its much less and so to me it's worth every penny of it.

How could u even compare dedicated youtube application on iphone4 vs youtube launched in N8's browser ? There's dedicated youtube application for symbian, that would be more fair comparision…

I just tried to launch google maps on my old Nokia X6, and it started basicly as fast as those on iPhone4. Same goes for internet browser – gazeta.pl started on my Opera Mobile as fast as on iPhone's 4 Safari. Every Nokia touchscreen user i know, is using Opera Mobile (its free) instead of built-in Symbian Browser.

How can you even compare the speed of browsers or GPS? If you noticed N8 is not using 3G but I cannot see what iPhone 4 is using. So if iPhone 4 uses 3G then I assume this test as biased.

Why dont you please try closing all the apps on the iphone before making a comparison?? I will agree if you say ios is smoother and better than symbian 3, but its not that fast. Ive never seen the app store load that fast ever!! And, try using the same network when you compare please, or put both on wifi…
