If you’re one of the many potential U.S. customers of the Google Nexus 4 smartphone by LG and have been having trouble getting hold of one then this next snippet of news may interest you. Virtually everybody by now knows that this has been in and out of stock at Google Play with long periods of time where it has not even been possible to place an order. That’s why a Google Nexus 4 finder that shows US retailers has now been set up by Google itself, in a bid to help out those who still want the phone.

In the US the only other official avenue for getting the Nexus 4 has been T-Mobile although the unlocked price is higher than through Google Play. T-Mobile also offers the phone on contract though and it has recently dropped in price if you want to go down the contract route. As well as this the Nexus 4 is expected to be available through some third-party retailers such as Walmart and Best Buy. So, if you can’t get your hands on the Nexus 4 through Google Play, there is now help for you to find store locations in the US that may have it in stock.

The Google Map Nexus 4 locator gives details of retail locations that are near you but one snag is that it doesn’t actually tell you if those locations have the phone in stock, you still have to ring the retailer yourself to get that information. One more drawback is that for now at least, the maps only appear to show T-Mobile stores but we hope that other retailers will be added as more begin selling the Nexus 4.

To use the Nexus 4 store locator you simply need to enter your address or zipcode, choose from finding a location between 5, 10, 20 or 50 miles and watch as all retail locations in those limits appear on the map. The locator also gives their precise distance from you and a phone number for each store so you can ring ahead to query stock availability.

The Nexus 4 finder is certainly worth using if you want the phone on-contract or don’t mind paying the extra cost for the unlocked phone at T-Mobile. As Google Play stock still seems sporadic and when stock is available there may be a wait for shipping, this does offer an alternative if you want the Nexus 4 quickly. You can find the Find a Nexus 4 page here so get checking!

We’d like to hear your thoughts on this. Are you planning to use this Nexus 4 finder? Maybe you’ve already tried it with success, or not? Let us have your comments on Nexus 4 availability.
