Phones 4u lose two top directors

Phones 4u has just lost two of their most senior directors, Jim Slater, marketing director who is believed to be leaving although a Phones 4u spokesperson wouldn’t confirm.

Slater, who was instrumental in positioning Phones 4u’s brand in the 18 to 35 year old bracket, is said to be leaving due to personal reasons and wishing to be closer to his family in the south east.

Slater is understood to be retuning to the sports business and is believed to be working as a consultant to two sporting organisations.

The second director to leave Phone 4u is their MD, David Downie, who left earlier in the year to join HSS, a hire specialist company, as their MD. Downie came to Phones 4u in 2005 from Asda, and was eventually appointed retail MD for Phones 4u.

A spokesperson for Phones 4u confirmed that Downie had left however stated Jim Slater still works for Phones 4u.
