BlackBerry Torch 9800 OS 6.0.0.161 Update Review and Problems

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has not been out long at all and already there is a software update for the handset.

The new BlackBerry Torch 9800 OS 6.0.0.161 update is now available to download, AT&T did officially release the OS 6.0.0.141 but now the new update is ready for download.

We would love to know what is new, what has been improved, basically anything you wish to let us know about it would be great. If you download you do this at your own risk as this in NOT the official download for your phone.

Nothing worse than getting the unofficial OS update installed on your device only to see it get totally messed up, so please use caution and back-up before you download.

If you wish to risk it then carry on and download right here, please do send us your personal review and of course any problems you find. Just a quick recap: Check out Amazon’s price for the BlackBerry Torch.

My torch has a tiny fleck under the screen glass on the edge that is barely noticible but noticible to me and will drive me crazy. Sucks!

  2. Tim says:

everytime I lock my touchscreen on the torch the touch screen is messed up afterwards (touching the screen in one place returns multiple touches on the device). Only solution is battery out – cold reboot. Anyone else have this issue??

Already on my second handset. Phones just switch off and reboot, in the middle of a call !!!
Touch screen is to sensitive, often comes out of my pocket with set-up screen showing and connections turned off.
Not as good as trusty old Blackberry Bold, unfortunately

I have the same problem as Tim and the problem started the day I got it: when I lock the touch screen everything freezes and I have to remove the battery and reboot to get it going again. I have ordered a new phone which should be coming later today. Hopefully this will not happen with the new phone…. fingers crossed

I have a problem with my emails. It shows an alert but when I go to my messages there is nothing there.
If I leave that window and then click in again, it shows up

My phone gives the notification sound, but when I look, there's no notification asterix to show a new message…..and the other bother I now experience, is when I want to take a pic, I have the 'sending or receiving' arrow running in the centre of the screen for far too long, and if I try to zoom in it also does not work anymore…I've had my Torch now for 1 month. (Still love it though)…

  9. Bob says:

I have a number of the same problems described above. Camera doesn't work, phantom email notifications that are not there, very short battery life (won't last the day, even if I don't make or receive calls that day), selecting an email and another one opens up, among other problems etc. This phone was not ready for release. Very disappointed.

my torch keeps blanking out and showing a battery with a red x over it,every time the battery is removed. what do I do about this?
