First attempts to gain root over the T-Mobile G2 were somewhat hampered, but a temporary root was achieved and not too long after was followed by a permanent root of the device probably much to the annoyance of HTC and T-Mobile.

However, according to an article over on Engadget by Chris Ziegler, that T-Mobile G2 permanent root has led to the guys over at XDA-developers having somewhat of a less difficult time in rooting the T-Mobile myTouch 4G which they have accomplished in short order.

Thus as long as you are prepared to proceed at your own risk you can now root your Android based T-mobile myTouch 4G, and no doubt numerous stock ROM’s will soon be hitting the net waves.

Apparently though rooting the T-Mobile myTouch 4G isn’t the easiest root there has been but if you’re good enough and you wish to try it out there’s full instructions over at the XDA-developers website, or you could hold off for those ROMs to hit.
