For some reason it appears that a virginal white is the popular colour for smartphones these days with virtually every smartphone manufacturer shoving out a white version of their top handset sooner or later, with of course the exception of Apple and the joke that is the white iPhone 4; yes we are still waiting for the elusive device to materialise.

However, a new shiny smartphone that hasn’t hit the public arena yet, the first PlayStation certified smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be coming out to play in white according to an article over on Engadget.

Apparently over here in the United Kingdom, O2 have announced that they will be the exclusive carrier of the white Sony Ericsson Xperia Play by using their Twitter account to tweet…” Great news: not only will we be selling Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, we’ll have an exclusive white version! Sony Ericsson hasn’t thus far announced if other markets will see the white version of the PlayStation phone, but no doubt at some point they will. So any of out Brit readers excited that they will be able to snap up the Android Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in white?
