Google Doodle Prompts Best Lunar Eclipse 2011 iOS App

Today is June 15, 2011 and the Google Doodle is all about the Lunar Eclipse, so we decided to find the best iOS app. The eclipse started at 6.24pm and lasts until midnight, it will only be noticeable in the UK when the sun sets at 9.19pm. You will get to see a blood red colour moon.

Anyway, if you do miss we thought we would let you know about an iPhone / iPad app so you do not miss it next time round. The nest time a Lunar Eclipse will happen is in 2018, get this app because it is amazing, and gives the user so much.

The app is called SkySafari 3 and yes it is free via iTunes (App Store), this is the basic of the SkySafari apps available, it features 120,000 stars, plus 220 of the best-known star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies in the sky. This will give accurate showings of the sky from any place on Earth and hundreds of images from NASA space missions, the Hubble Space Telescope, and the world’s foremost astro-photographers.

The app features: A night button, simple VCR controls, SkyWeek, which a mobile version of Sky & Telescope Magazine’s “Sky at a Glance” column, Spectacular new horizon panoramas, improved Sun glow, horizon glow, and sunset effects give SkySafari a dramatic new appearance. Scrolling toolbar, Compass, Gyro, and Night Vision icons, Messier objects, Artistic illustrations of all 88 constellations, Support for the gyroscope, Tonight’s Best, Night vision mode and so much more.

This is one of the best Lunar Eclipse apps on the market and we suggest you checking it out. Please let us know if you spot the lunar eclipse, if you have already installed this application on your iOS device we would love to read your personal reviews. Thanks
