HTC EVO 3D UK Release Date: The Gimmick Superphone

The new HTC EVO 3D release date for the UK is set for July, but are you really bothered with the gimmick superphone? Ponder on that thought for a little while whilst reading the following.

HTC has finally announced via its Facebook page that the EVO 3D smartphone will be releasing to UK customers in July, this is the phone that gives you 3D technology without the need for 3D glasses.

The Facebook page from HTC said “”We’re happy to announce that our first 3D superphone, the HTC EVO 3D, is coming to Europe. It will be hitting UK shelves from July!” This is all good, but can it really be the LG Optimus 3D rival?

Main HTC EVO 3D features include 1GB of RAM, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor, 1GB of internal storage, 4.3in Super LCD touchscreen display with 540×960 resolution, 5-megapixel rear dual cameras with LED flash that allows you to take 2D or 3D pictures, it also has a front-facing 1.3MP camera.

It will come running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and HTC Sense, the only downside to this mobile phone is that the 3D only works on landscape mode only, meaning that most of the time when the handset is in the more used portrait mode you will only get 3D according to the Independent.

The Independent has put together quick hands-on review of the HTC EVO 3D, which is worth a read. They mention a few good things but they never had time to play around with the phone to test its battery life. This is the main factor here; with new 3D technology squeezed into a small product surely battery life will be on the poor side, if anyone wishes to answer this one for us would be great.

Other EVO 3D features include DLNA, WiFi, microUSB port, Bluetooth, 12.5mm and 170 grams. No UK price has been mentioned just yet, but judging on the HTC Sensation approx £500 price tag and the £450-ish LG Optimus 3D price, we would expect the EVO 3D to be in the region of these prices.

Do you think the HTC EVO 3D is a gimmick superphone?

  1. What a pointless question to ask in a so called review. Of course its a gimmick superphone…but the key phrase is superphone not gimmick.

It has an awesome processor, expandable memory and all the usual htc awesomeness…its just also happens to have nintendo 3ds style 3d tech which also allows you to record in 3d…

this “review” poses the gimmick as a negative but imho its totally the opposite…a gimmick that you might spend a small amount of time using but still when you’re using it you will probably be amazed and sitting there impressing all your mates at the same time.
