RadioShack Reduce Price of BlackBerry PlayBook: Update

Poor old Research In Motion isn’t having that great a time with their first foray into the tablet market with the BlackBerry PlayBook, and thus it appears that the only way to drum up sales is for retailers to offer the slate at a reduced price, and RadioShack is doing just that.

According to the guys over at Slash Gear, RadioShack will be running a reduced price offer on the BlackBerry PlayBook as of yesterday through to the 5th of November where customers can grab the RIM slate for just $279.99.

However, there are two deals going down as follows…the 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook usually costing $479.99 up until the 15th of October will receive a $200 instant price reduction. The second deal runs from the 16th of October up to the 5th of November and the customer gets a $200 gift card.

Although the BlackBerry PlayBook probably isn’t the best tablet out there, getting the slate for a fairly reasonable $279.99 may just attract customers who simply can’t afford an expensive tablet like the Apple iPad 2.

As a reminder the BlackBerry PlayBook specs are a 7-inch touch screen, 5 megapixel rear facing camera, 3 megapixel front facing camera, 1080p video, 1GB RAM, 1GHz dual core processor, Adobe Flash 10.1, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and of course BlackBerry Messenger.

So if you happen to be a regular customer with RadioShack that 200-buck gift card may come in handy, if you’re not a regular customer but fancy owning the PlayBook now is the time to hit up RadioShack and save yourself some cash.

Does a $279.99 price tag on the BlackBerry PlayBook make the slate more attractive? If you have enjoyed this Phones Review article feel free to add me your circles on Google+ and I will of course add you back.

Update: We had an email saying this –

There’s a price update regarding the BlackBerry PlayBook. The instant savings through 10/15 is $180, thus bringing the price to $299.
