Galaxy S3 based Samsung camera possibly on its way

It appears that there could be a new device coming out of the Samsung camp, not a smartphone or tablet, but a point and shoot camera, and the difference with this camera is that word has it the device is based on the very popular Samsung Galaxy S3, and will be known as the Samsung Galaxy S Camera.

According to the guys over at GSM Arena, an unnamed source has relayed to them that the Samsung Galaxy S Camera converges the Galaxy S3 with a point and shoot camera, will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and sport the Galaxy S3 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display.

According to the tipster, who apparently has been reliable in the past, the Samsung Galaxy S Camera, is describes as having a Samsung Galaxy S3 glued to the back of a point and shoot camera, with word that the device is 1.5 to 2x thicker than the SGS3, whilst the device is said to sport a 16 megapixel sensor, a curved right hand side to help with ergonomics, and a pop out Xenon flash.

The camera will also apparently come in 3G + WiFi and WiFi versions, although will not feature any mobile voice or data options, is already being pitched towards several carriers, and is expected to be announced at IFA 2012 in Berlin alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

So there you have it, of course the existence of the Samsung Galaxy S Camera hasn’t been confirmed, and as such remains in the world of rumour and speculation, that is until IFA 2012 kicks off in a few days time, when we should find out for sure if the Samsung Galaxy S Camera is indeed real, and if it is, is it something our Android readers would be interested in purchasing?
