By 2015 US will have 149 Million WiFi Enabled Mobile Phones

Come the year 2015, the United States will have a penetration of some 149 million WiFi enabled mobile phones according to a recent study performed by Coda Research Consultancy reports an article over on intomobile.

Based on this information it means the United States will account for 66 percent of all WiFi enabled mobile phone shipments in the year 2015 with a growth rate of 25 percent CAGR between the end of 09 and 2015.

Obviously a big part of that growth will be in the smartphone sector with two thirds of WiFi hotspot connections coming through smartphones in 2015. Furthermore apparently Coda Research Consultancy believes that 95 percent of all WiFi enabled smartphones will employ 802.11n standard.

So it looks like the smartphone business is going to be kind’a big over the next few years which isn’t that surprising as smartphones are obviously the ‘now’ device in the mobile phone world, I wonder how many of that 149 million will be the iPhone.
