Samsung Galaxy S6 Active review times two for choice

#

The Active version of the Galaxy S6 is now available, so today we’re bringing you a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active review times two for choice. The smartphone is now up for grabs in the US, and for those looking for a more rugged handset this might be a good choice. It has some top-notch specs and is also dust and water resistant to IP68 certification standards.

Those who lead an active lifestyle and put their smartphones through the mill will appreciate the sturdy build of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. As well as dust and water resistance it also meets MIL-STD-810G standards against salt, rain, humidity, vibration, shock, solar radiation and more. That does make it a chunkier device than the Galaxy S6 flagship but then these things require a compromise. In our launch article on the S6 Active we told how it’s only available in the US on AT&T.

Sometimes a video review can be a really useful way of checking out a phone before you make your choice. Not only will it give some good insight about specs and more, but you’ll also get the opportunity to get a good look at the handset from all angles. So that you can get different perspectives on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, we’ve embedded two video reviews below this article instead of just one.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active review

The first YouTube video comes from Phone Arena and begins with looking at the design and build of the phone. The ruggedized look is immediately apparent and the reviewer discusses the added bulk. The specs are virtually the same as for the standard Galaxy S6, although the Active version has a larger battery. The review moves on to covering the display, the software experience, processor and performance, and camera capabilities (with sample images and video footage).

The last few aspects covered include the audio quality, call quality, and battery life. At the end of this first review there’s a list of pros and cons of the phone. A few of the pros include the excellent battery life, camera performance, and display. Meanwhile some of the cons are that there’s no expandable storage (the same as for the standard S6), and the less attractive design. An overall rating is then given for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and it scores a hugely impressive 9.2 out of 10.

The second YouTube video showing a Samsung Galaxy Active review comes from MobileTechReview. As you might expect this covers many aspects that were in the first review but gives another take on the device. It gives an excellent overview of the phone with expert advice, price details, connectivity, benchmarks, and a useful summary. The reviewer also point out that other carriers could still come up with their own versions of the S6 Active.

When you’ve watched the two reviews below we’d like to hear from you. Have they helped you to make up your mind about whether to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active or not? Do you think this phone has everything you were looking for?
