It has been a very busy day for smartphone launches in India, and yet another new device has now been officially unveiled. The Vivo Y51L India price has been announced, but it seems steep for what this phone has to offer. You may disagree so we have all the news you need on the specs, pricing and more.

We had our first indication of the Vivo Y51L when it received TENAA certification back in November last year. The handset has a metal frame and glass on both the front and back, and availability in India will be through offline stores. The Vivo Y51L has a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor and a 5-inch IPS display. However, rather than HD or Full HD resolution, it has rather unimpressive qHD resolution of 960 x 540.

The phone has 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, with an option via microSD to expand this to 128GB. It’s equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with beauty mode feature. A 2350 mAh battery keeps it juiced, and connectivity is covered with 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and microUSB 2.0. The Vivo Y51L runs the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS skinned with FuntouchOS 2.5.

The handset weighs around 157g and is 7.52mm thick so will feel nicely slim. The Vivo Y51L price is Rs. 11,980, and while it seems to have some merits there are plenty of more affordable 4G LTE smartphones now available on the Indian market. The phone comes in Black or White with Gold color options. Speaking about the launch Vivo India CEO, Alex Feng, said,

“The Indian smartphone market is tech savvy and price sensitive. The affordable segment is the growth driver, as the young generation today looks for a phone, which is best in features, beautiful in design and is priced competitively. Last year, we witnessed huge sales and positive demand for products in the budget range across markets, which boosted us to launch the Y51L. The new launch will further strengthen our hold on the market and help us establish ourselves among our consumers.”
