New Apple iPhone 4G 2010 Speculations and Predictions

As you are aware the Apple iPhone 4G 2010 at present doesn’t exist but that doesn’t stop the speculation and predictions from happening and apparently there is rumoured evidence that Apple is in the process of testing a new iPhone handset which has been speculated for Verizon’s 4G LTE network reports an article over on i4u.

Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster has predicted that Verizon Wireless will offer the iconic iPhone at some point in 2010 and states that there is a 70 percent chance of that happening.

Munster also states that he feels Apple will continue to keep Adobe Flash off the iPhone as this is a strategic move by Apple to “not enable” app developers to implement their applications in flash so they can offer them easily on all smartphone platforms.

The writer then goes on to state what he would like to see in the iPhone 2010 such as an AMOLED screen, a faster CPU along with a front facing camera for video conferencing and perhaps a 12 megapixel camera.

As I have said all these are pure speculation as to what may happen with the iPhone 4G 2010, but what would our readers like to see in a future iPhone, any ideas? If so feel free to list them in our comments section.

UPDATE: Please read “iPhone 4G 2010: So what’s new and changed then?” You will get an insight in what the new iPhone 4G has to offer.

Besides having a front camera, I’d like to see the LED screen pushed closer to the edges,… in an almost full bleed fashion. As for the dimensions, I’d want the 4G built a hair larger, maybe: 4.75″ x 2.75″ x .45″ with a glossy rubberized backing & yet still some how keep it under 5 ounces. Oh and lastly; 2 louder stereo speakers would be great: 1 ontop & 1 on the bottom!

Well, I certainly hate to help Apple as I’d MUCH prefer Google to take over the world. But just to throw the ideas out there for posterity I’ll go ahead and list all my wants in a cellphone, the only device I have interest in carrying.
    Excellent call quality and reception.
Awesome music player with huge expandable memory (I have 250Gb of music and counting).
Awesome in ear ear buds like Monster Turbines (not those flat, falling-out-all-the-time pieces of crap iphones come with now).
The phone itself should have good stereo speakers built in that double as the speakerphone of course.
Awesome camera, 12mp is cool, but with excellent optics much more important along with good optical zoom, at least 4x.
That camera should record HD video with good audio as well.
Of course the camera should have a powerful LED flash with can be used like a flashlight and also flashes SOS.
It should have a massive amount of battery power (a minimum of 450 min talk time) and the battery should be replaceable so that I can carry spares.
The phone chassis itself needs a lanyard loop like virtually all other phones so that I can wear it around my neck.
The phone should have a built in HD/digital FM radio receiver.
It should also have a digital TV receiver built in.
The phone should have GPS built in for free turn by turn directing like the Android.
The phone should have WiFi capability.
The phone should be on a high speed CDMA network that enables fast web surfing, downloads, and email and include unlimited data and texting like MetroPCS.
The phone should have a voice/call recorder.
As well as all of the obvious stuff already there with some improvement like timer, stopwatch, MULTIPLE alarms, calendar/scheduler, 2000 person phonebook, calculator, voice dialing, mp3 ringtones, vibrating alert, wireless data transfer, speed dialing, Music ID, unlimited call history.
Oh yeah, I REALLY want a pico projector built in so that I can watch my videos/TV projected on a wall/ceiling/seatback (the battery should be able to handle at least several hours of this for long flights).
Oh, it should also definitely have a laser projection keyboard. Why the hell would anyone want to type on their phone?
My phone should be the only device I ever need to carry/wear around my neck. It should replace my laptop, camera, GPS, FM radio/music player, portable TV/video viewer, projector (awesome for artists), flashlight and tape recorder. Why the hell anyone would want to carry more than one gadget with them at all times is beyond me.

Why do you want to wear it around your neck ?? If it had all the features you wanted you'd need a backpack to carry it around !!

  3. Code Red says:

The thing that really lets the iPhone down is the rubbish camera – my wife’s cheap Samsung wipes the floor with it in terms of picture quality. I would like Flash in terms of a camera flash! With the price of this piece of equipment I expect this level of features. As a graphic designer it would be great to be able to take decent photos and use the iPhone’s connectivity to distribute the pictures.

Another wish would be some kind of improved file handling system – I have Air Sharing on my 3G, which is great, but it would be even better if you could save email attachments to a file viewer and move them around etc.

Final wish would be PROPER Bluetooth connectivity. Honestly, it’s embarrassing when everyone else is ‘toothing files back and forth and I can’t.

Built in solar charger on backing (cool but doubt it would happen)
    Flo TV support
    Webcam/conference cam on front
    Flash led

FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! We want FLASH viewable on our iphones. This could kill a company if all the other companies have it but you. Also maybe some of the really cool jailbreak features.

  6. Kyle Slack says:

first off I want to say I love the iPhone and couldn’t be a bigger fan. Next I would like to say apple get off your high horse about customization and 3rd Party Apps. Android is amazing as well and predicted to over take by 2012. Honestly the only update I would need to be happy is Androids notification panel via status bar that slides down and no more annoying push notifications. It’s really not that hard to do for an iPhone let’s get on it guys seriously do you like death by push notification?

  8. Tyson Jones says:

I hope the iPhone stays with AT&T just because I don’t want to have to make the switch. If Verizon gets the iPhone 4G exclusively I will probably switch to them.

  9. sha says:

I’m an iPhone user, but I don’t really like it much. I started to fall in love with Google’s Nexus One phone rumers and it’s amazing Android platform. Waiting for Google phone then will ditch the iPhone 3G.

I personally find Apple is really stingy, don’t want offer the standard features that a basic cheap phone may have. After buying iPhone 3G, I was looking forward to iPhone 3Gs as I thought it would provide a lot more than what was included 3Gs. Absulately rubbish.

Can’t wait till I get new Google phone.

  10. DM says:

    Rikmaru
“iPhone 2010 will be a minor change. The real exciting iPhone will be iPhone 2011.”

Thats rubbish! The 2009 3GS was a minor upgrade, the real upgrade will be 2010.

If you were correct, Apple would probably lose a lot of credability as the latest upgrade was nothing special and would show the world that Apple are running out of ideas.

I think they held back a lot for the 3GS, expect big things this year!

  11. furby says:

I agree with DM. The next iPhone will be the biggest change for a couple of years.

Sha hopefully the Nexus One has spell check on it for you too.

I would like to see a front camera for iChat. Which rumours are strong to suggest that this is the case. Longer battery life, better speakers, better camera optics (as more pixels does NOT mean better photo quality. Increasing the Megapixels (resolution) of the camera merely increases the size of the photo. This means that you can make larger prints, or crop a large area without losing too much detail. Since even a 4 Megapixel camera can make a nice 8 x 10 inch print, there’s no need to spend more money on an 8 or 10 Megapixel camera) so many people go on about mega pixels without having a clue. I’d also like to see the App Store give you the option to trial Apps before purchase. Lastly, I’d like it to be able to be jailbroken, as I’m sure you still won’t be able to do everything that it can do unrestricted.

  12. Ian says:

It definitely needs a bigger screen. HTC HD2 is 4.3 inches and kills the current iPhone. Also it really ought to do this without increasing the handset size – and awful lot of non-screen on the front!
    At least 4″ OLED screen
    At least a 1GHz processor
    At least 1Gb RAM
At least 5mp camera with LED flash

It’s difficult to find fault with Apple’s software (as much as I’d love to) but the hardware is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind the times!

  13. Maria says:

I love my iPhone and I have the 2g
All I want is a camera flash. I would like to have to only carry one thing and the picture quality inside sucks!

  14. its obvious apple need to become the most innovative company again as 2010 is seeing them slip back to level out with other companys like google so they need to step up technology and advance the next i phone to a superior technical level.

12 mp camera with flash (at least as there are many handsets with this already)
    4g Network
    Better Battery life
    Sat nav intergrated
    at least 32gb
a thinner lighter model with higher screen capacity
much better speakers and HD Calling

  15. Tom says:

How about the ability to play videos in different formats?

    Like…

    MPEG1/2/4 Elementary (M1V, M2V, M4V)
MPEG1/2 PS (M2P, MPG, DAT, VOB)
MPEG2 Transport Stream (TS, TP, TRP, M2T, M2TS, MTS)
    AVI, ASF, WMV
    Matroska (MKV)
    MOV (H.264), MP4, RMP4

  16. Jay says:

Everything you lot are asking for is already here, its called the HTC HD2! Loose the dinosaur people, even the 4G will be released already outdated.

The HD3 scheduled end of 2010 boasts 1.5cpu, 1gb ram/1gb rom, 1080 HD display! Nothing Apple will be able to match sorry.

Your appstore is cool…thats about it.

  17. zaine says:

According to Steve Jobs, this time upgrade will be an “A+ upgrade” in term of hardware & software. What we can expect Apple should have :
    – 4″ AMOLED screen with full 1080p HD
highest available screen resolution with IPS technology
    – 1.2 – 1.6 GHz A4 ARM multicore processor with powerful graphic chipset
    – 1 GB RAM
    – 32 GB built in memory with HDSD card expandability (optional)
    – 10 – 15 hrs Removable battery
    – iPhone 4 with multitasking capabilities
    – 6 megapixel Carl Zeiss autofocus camera with flash
    – 3G/4G high speed Network
    – built in HD Radio & TV tuner
    – HDMI output
    – front facing camera for iChat / IM
    – wireless N
    – Augmented Reality capability
    – less than 10 mm thickness
    – face detection capabilities
    – New GUI with local / geographical based contents
    – RFID support
    – Next Level Maps with voice directions & requests
    – Multiformat Virtual Business card exchange
    – and… etc..etc

  18. Thomas says:

    ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY!!!
I get that most of this stuff is technically possible for a phone but I certainly don’t want to shell out seventeen hundred to have the damn thing!! Be realistic and stop dreaming up insane things to put in a phone.
The one change I really want is the new A4 processor they made for the iPad.
Its NOT going to have flash so please stop begging for it. Jobs has made it abundantly clear that he loathes flash.
Google is the one restricting the turn by turn capabilities for the maps app so untill they allow it, the iPhone will never have that without buying a separate GPS app.
It will probably be the same size since all of the peripherals are already made for that size model.
Most likely there will be a small increase in the camera power, but don’t expect a front facing camera. ATT just about shut down when they weren’t ready for the increased data flow when these smartphones first really boomed and no company is really ready for everyone to be video calling one another.

  19. Pete Shaw says:

Realistically, I think we can expect:

    AMOLED screen
    1Ghz A4 processor
    5MP Camera w/LED Flash
    Multi-tasking
    802.11n
    3G/4G LTE
Front Vid Cam (to get one up on DROIDs)
    64GB

    It won’t have:
    Adobe Flash
    CDMA for Verizon
    HDMI
Larger screen (It is already perfect size.)
    Micro SD
    removable battery
    Face detection

  20. Pook says:

Folders, folders and more folders. I can't believe the idiots who designed the software didn't add that. So stupid. You can buy more programs! More money for Apple.

The ability to buy and change themes and icons would be nice. Also, more money for Apple. Such control freaks! Actually more than MS is. Amazing.

Basically, anything you can do with a jailbroken phone. Saurik and Big Boss seem to know what we want better than Apple.

The store should allow you to dismiss an update if you don't want it. Updates are not necessarily improvements.

Camera power, that would be nice, but I have a camera. A good one. The iPhone does a good job for what I need it for. A zoom that has a little better closeup ability is needed, but not urgent.

I don't care about Adobe Flash, but a Camera Flash would be nice!

    That's it for me.

  21. George says:

We are headed in a direction that will illiminate computers and TVs. Think about it HD monitors in each room and in hotels. Your phone will be powerful enough and have enough onboard memory to hold movies, all your digital pics, your favorite apps, etc. Go to work and plug it into a cradle attached to a monitor, keyboard and mouse and you have a computer. Come home and plug it into a cradle with a monitor and you have HD TV. No need for discs or blu rays anymore. Just download, and pay for what you want. It is scary to see how close we are to this world. We may see it in our life time!

  22. paul says:

better off with a phone that does it all and does it with more style than the iphone- get the HTC HD2. what a great phone, had the iphone got sick of it happy i did or wouldnt of tryed the htc

  23. Michelle says:

I'm not a fan of touch screen wrt texting, so would be in favour of a slide out qwerty keyboard. Removable battery would be preferable too so that you can carry a spare.

  24. Iwantmoreandmore says:

I would like to see the possibility of this phone turning into a house, producing food out of thin air (as well as money), folding out into a nice picnic table, and ending all wars.

  25. MrB says:

Never mind a 4g get the 3g working smoothly 1st!!!!
    My gripes:
1/ I can only speak as an UK O2 customer but the iPhone is the worst mobile telephone I have ever owned – it's a fabulous 'device' and I love it – but a rubbish phone – they need to work very hard to improve call reliability & clarity.
2/ The iPhone doesn't support Quicktime, what the….! How lame is that! C'mon guys, it's a proprietary Apple piece of software so why not enable the iphone to see .movs?
3/ Flash enabled is a no brainer – since when did Apple become the drag anchor on innovation?
Oh yeah and btw: Apple needs to lean on the carriers of it's product to cap data roaming charges and stop them ripping off customers with extortionate bills – it's disgusting profiteering, stunts device development and contaminates Apples rep. If Google swung such a data bargain tomorrow the iPhone would be dead in the water!

  26. I know Apple don't want flash on their software but they seem strangly against the idea of having a flash on their camera. A huge mistake and a really basic thing to have on a handheld device. Disposable cameras have had them built in for decades but Apple can't seem to find room for one. Very silly.

As for the battery: its just pathetic. Either set up more functions on the interface to allow the user to save the battery life or make the battery bigger so it lasts longer. They could even make the battery swappable so the user could buy some cheap replacements from Hong kong. Anything really to improve this.

Security issues needs to be addressed as well. With so many apps other different services. For example ihave Facebook, Twitter, Email, text, Ebay, Amazon and possibly banking details and phone calls available to anyone who manages to steal my phone or find s it if i've lost it. Hopefully i'll never forget to lock the phone.

A great device i love it and it beats all the other competition in to touch but it will be up against some strong competition if they don't address certain issues very soon.
