20000 Apps Now on Android Market

If you end up with a new Google Nexus One handset you won’t go short on Android applications as according to an article over on casual gaming .biz, the Android Market has now hit the 20k application milestone according to figures from 3rd-party site AndroLib.

Apparently just 37.8% of those 20,000 are paid applications while 62.2% are free apps, which is good as I like free apps, however that 37.8% represents in excess of 7500 paid applications available.

Apparently there was a large spike in Android games and app released to the Android Market in November and according to figures the number was 3544, and apparently that will be beaten this month as in the 1st half 2000 apps have already been released.

The iPhone still may command the app world, but it looks like Android is slowly catching up and with the reported arrival of the Google Nexus One will probably grow even faster.
