The BBC director of Future Media & Technology, Erik Huggers was at Mobile World Congress 2010 and held a keynote whereby he declared that the BBC was taking their content to the smartphone world and as BBC users are also smartphone users the BBC is dedicated to delivering content to their mobile devices.

The article over on crackberry also states that the BBC will start off by releasing multiple applications including BBC Sport, BBC News and other for the Apple iPhone which will apparently arrive in early April.

Furthermore, BlackBerry and Android versions are to follow later in the year. Huggers also confirmed that the BBC is working on dedicated iPlayer apps that can deliver video content.
