Will India Gain iPhone 3GS Soon?

India apparently gave such a lukewarm response to the India launch of the iconic iPhone that so far they haven’t been given the iPhone 3GS smartphone. However, according to an article over on duniyalive, the rumour is India will gain the iPhone 3GS soon.

Unfortunately though all it is, is rumour and no one has actually confirmed India will see the iPhone 3GS soon or any other time. On a bright note though the people of India will gain the latest Android smartphone out of the Google camp, the Google Nexus One.

Word does have it though that the Indian Nexus One smartphone will be a slimmed down version where features are concerned, although just what features will be slimmed has yet to be announced.

Of course with the prospect of a next generation iPhone looming in the United States in the form of the iPhone 4G as it has become known, maybe India will finally see the iPhone 3GS.

  1. Rocky - not fair says:

Iphone didnt do well in India as it was not subsidized as it is in US. the Service providers in India do not offer phone with the service plans, one buys the mobile separately. One changes the service providers and plans frequently… the Iphone that costs INR 8000 in US costs INR 31000 in India. thats 3.5+ time more expensive than the one we keep hearing about on news channels!
Beng hte second largest market in the world for mobiles after china didnt help the Iphone purchases fir these reasons.
AND ABOUT INDIA BEING A LAND OF SLUMS, YOU ARE EXTREMELY OUT OF DATE WITH THE CURRENT AFFAIRS AND WORLS NEWS. DO I REALLY NEED TO COMMENT ON THAT?
DID I MENTION I AM AN INDIAN?!

  2. Silly Indian says:

Iphone is for poor americans. Only they can buy an iphone for $200. In India, the cost of the iphone is $800 +. No american living in India will ever think of owning an iphone in India but still Indians do and have given a lukewarm response to iphone.

Poor Americans and Europeans need subsidy but not Indians. We are clear about necessity and luxury. Luxury should never come subsidized and so will iphone be. Not like stupid american policies that does not support local employment.

Unemployed American needs an iphone for $200 manufactured in China rather than have a job in hand…. What a nice thought?
