New images of iPhone 5 emerge may be the real deal

A couple of days ago we told you about some alleged parts turning up for the yet to be announced iPhone 5, which were claimed to be the metal back panel for the handset, now today some new images have emerged of the iPhone 5 that could actually be the real deal.

We have already seen many images that have claimed to be of the iPhone 5 this year, but these latest ones are arguably the most convincing yet. As GSM Arena is reporting this latest leak shows what could be the iPhone 5 sitting alongside an iPhone 4S. From the images it can be seen that there is an edge to edge display with a black aluminium body on the side.

It ties in with previous rumours and shows a handset that has a longer screen than the iPhone 4/4S, but the power button, front facing camera, and earpiece are in the same position. Before we have seen a number of leaks that have moved these features of the iPhone in a variety of positions on the handset.

The bottom of the handset has been redesigned though as there is a new smaller dock connector, which also ties in with previous speculation and the headphone jack has been moved to the bottom of the handset.

It seems the new handset will be making more use of the bezel in order to provide a larger screen without increasing the width of the smartphone. The original source of the images has since been removed, so you can take that in whatever way you want. Once the iPhone 5 has been released the smartphone market could really heat up, and we have already speculated how the device may influence the Galaxy S4.

There has also been recent speculation that the iPhone 5 may come packing a quad core processor, and that Apple may bring the release of the handset forward to August to take advantage of the back to school business in the US.

Do you think these images are genuine?

I just don’t get why the phone has to be so tall. Why can’t there be a smaller space between the top of the screen and the microphone.
