Another high-dollar handset is on the way as the Vertu Aster clears the FCC

#

Remember that expensive Platinum iPhone 6 Plus we told you about last week? There’s a new high-dollar handset on the way, and it come from the folks at Vertu. They know a thing or two about luxury, and their latest smartphone, the Vertu Aster, has just cleared the FCC and appears to be ready for primetime.

When we last checked in on Vertu, they were working with Bentley on a new device. The Vertu Aster may not have that Bentley bling, but it’s certainly a premium smartphone as you can see from the photo. The Vertu Aster specs aren’t half bad either…

The Vertu Aster will have a 4.7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. It gets its horsepower from a 2.3GHz Snapdragon quad-core SoC and 2GB or RAM although we don’t know the size of the battery that will provide the actual power. It’s listed as having 64GB storage (no microSD), 2GB of RAM, and has a 13MP rear camera to take care of any snapshots you want to take. The Vertu Aster’s connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC. As for the OS, you can expect KitKat 4.4 with Vertu’s custom overlay.

Vertu is a luxury brand, so you can expect the Vertu Aster to have several options and colors available when the phone hits the streets. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it will be in the thousands if priced close to their previous models.

Does the Vertu Aster have enough style and power to justify the high price tag?
