The Zen U105 Firefox phone launches for Rs. 1,999

#

Android is the most widespread mobile OS out there these days, but it started off small initially. Firefox is no stranger to the OS game, and we’ve already seen a few Firefox-based handsets launch this year. You can now add one more to that list with the Zen U105 smartphone.

If you know nothing else about Firefox-based handsets, you’ll want to know that they are generally cheap. The Spice Fire One Mi — FX1 is priced at around $38 bucks, and the Intex Firefox handset is a bit cheaper than that. The Zen U105 is in the same category, and it sports similar specs as well.

The Zen U105 has a 3.5-inch (320 x 480) display with a 1GHz Spreadtrum chip, and 128MB of RAM. The storage is listed at 256MB, but it can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card slot. Rounding things out for the ZEN is a 2MP/0.3MP camera combo, 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth, dual-SIM functionality, and an FM Radio. It will run Firefox OS 1.3, and is powered by a 1,200mAh battery.

Now for the price. The Zen U105 prices is shown at HomeShop 18 as Rs. 1,999 which is around $32.50 in the states. That’s a hair cheaper than the Fire One Mi and right in line with the Intex handset. The device is currently listed as out of stock, but you can sign up to get notified when HomeShop gets them back in stock.
