The Asus VivoWatch makes its way through Bluetooth SIG

#

The Asus ZenWatch surprised a lot of folks when it was announced, and it’s no secret that the company is hard at work on several new wearables. One of those has just gotten certified at Bluetooth SIG, and it’s going to be called the Asus VivoWatch.

The Asus VivoWatch carries the model number HC-A01, and it was assessed back on January the 29th. Details are light, but the design description says the VivoWatch is a “health watch which can detect heart rate and sleep data.” While that doesn’t tell us anything about the processors, display or features, the name itself may have told us quite a bit.

The “Vivo” moniker is something Asus usually pulls out for Windows products. Last month, a few details about the ZenWatch line came out and one of them involved the OS. The company believes the OS should be simplified to bring more battery life, so it may mean they are moving away from Android Wear with at least one of their new products.

It’s unknown when we’ll actually see the Asus VivoWatch, but it should be sooner than later with MWC right around the corner. For what it’s worth, the VivoWatch sounds like it’s more fitness tracker than smartwatch, so don’t count Android Wear out just yet. Are you looking forward to seeing what Asus does with wearables this year or have you already decided on another brand?
