Honor 7X announced!

#

Recently, we took a look at some of the rumors for the upcoming Honor V10. That device gives you pretty good value for the money, as many users of the Honor brand know. And now, they announced the Honor 7X, the next version of the popular Honor 6X. Let’s take a look at the device and all of its features.

Design

The Honor 7X gives you a premium feeling when you get it first time in the hand. Composed of an aluminum frame, it does feel beautiful in the palms. That material gives in the device’s sturdiness too, although the device is 7.6mm thin. On the front, you will find the 5.93” Full HD+ LCD display, with 2160×1080 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is nice to see tall displays coming to budget devices, following the trend that will seal 2017. Color saturation is decent on the display, and it gets bright enough in daylight. On the back, you will find the dual – lens camera setup with the flash, the fingerprint sensor and branding on the bottom.

Features

On the performance side, the Honor 7X is not cutting down. The Kirin 659 octa-core chipset will handle any task you throw at it. On the graphic side, the Mali T830 GPU will handle all graphics you demand from it. There will be two different versions: the first with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, and the other with 4GB RAM / 64GB internal storage. The 4GB version will be available globally, except in the US, so if you’re reading this from there, you will have to settle with the 3GB one. Nevertheless, both options are great, and depending on your needs, you can get by even with the lower one. The device will be powered by the 3340mAh battery, which should last through a full day of use.

In the camera department, the Honor 7X is also trying to keep up with the trends. The rear camera is consisted of two lenses, one primary with 16MP and the other with 2MP for portrait mode effect. The sharpness is great, with the color accuracy coming a bit oversaturated. This could be a problem for some of you, but for the regular user it should be a bummer. The second lens performs mediocre, as the depth can be a hit or miss. But, for a budget device, I cannot expect anything more. The front camera is a regular 8MP shooter, and it can take pretty good pictures.

The device will ship with Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box, with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of it. There will be a single bottom firing speaker, alongside the headphone jack and Micro USB port. Huawei didn’t go with Type-C because they didn’t want to increase the price for the device. Though I suspect that price would have been that much higher, Huawei did remark that they will price the Honor 7X competitively, so we will have to wait and see that.

Pricing and availability

Speaking of pricing, there is still no information about this nor the release date. We will update this article as soon as we get a hold on it, but I can assume that the device will be available for purchase right before the end of this year.
