Moto G4 Play is headed to India on September 6th

#

Back in June, we learned the Moto G4 was headed stateside and that the rest of the G4 lineup would soon go global. Consumers in India have been wondering when the Moto G4 Play would show up in their locale, and it looks like that day will come next month on September 6th.

Motorola’s “G” lineup has always been known for being affordable, but with a catch as they generally have less than stellar specs. That’s not going to change in 2016, as the Moto G4 Play is the lowest member of the G4 family after the regular Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus. While those handsets have been available for a while, consumers in India will soon be able to scoop up the Moto G4 Play in less than two weeks.

While the Moto G4 Play is budget-friendly, it’s a far cry better than some handsets in its class. That’s due in part to the Snapdragon 410 under the hood, which is backed by 2GB of RAM. The storage is about what you would expect at 16GB, but expandable through the usual means up to 128GB. As for the display, it is listed at 5-inches with a resolution of 1,280 x 720.

On the backside of the Moto G4 Play, you will find an 8MP sensor with an LED flash, while the front-facing camera is listed at 5MP. A full array of connectivity options are included as well with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and 4G LTE. The handset measures 144mm x 72mm x 8.95mm and has a weight of 137grams. The Dual-SIM Moto G4 Play will pull its power from a 2,800mAh battery with Quick Charging and runs Android 6.0 out of the box.

As you can tell from the Moto G4 Play specs, it isn’t half bad and the 2GB of RAM goes a long way in giving the handset a nice boost. Needless to say, it’s a solid option if you reside in the region and will be available in Black or White beginning on September 6th. Unfortunately, there’s been no word on the Moto G4 Play price for India, but it’s expected to be affordable at around Rs. 8,000 or less.
