The rumour was that Nokia Ovi Maps may come to the Android platform; we posted about it yesterday which you can read (here) well apparently this was and will only be a rumour as according to an article over on recombu, Ovi Maps is not coming to Android.

Word has it the site has managed to gain the official word from Nokia that confirms the Android operating system will not gain Nokia Ovi Maps, and that the statement made by Grieg Williams was misinterpreted by the Austrian journalist.

Apparently Williams actually responded “We don’t comment on future plans” which somehow was translated into German as “That will be our next step.”

Nokia confirms that once they pointed out the error to the Austrian journalist he corrected his article. So there you go, no plans to bring Nokia Ovi Maps to the Android Platform,
