Motorola Milestone 2.1 Android update held up for UK

Motorola started the roll out of the over the air Android 2.1 software update recently for the Milestone although not in all of the markets where the device is available according to an article over at news.softpedia.com

Lucky users in both Italy and France are now able to enjoy the latest version on their handsets of Google’s Android operating system, sadly those users in Germany and the UK (Vodafone customers) are not so lucky and will have to wait longer for the solution to become available to them.

Motorola Europe comment on their Facebook page, “for UK Milestone owners and those on Vodafone Germany, we apologise for the delay in the upcoming 2.1 upgrade. Issues occurred in testing on the networks and this has held up the process”

It goes on to state that providing there are no further problems this will be released next week. For Vodafone in Germany the update is expected later this week. The handset vendor updated its 2.1 Android roll out plans for the mobile phones running under the operating system, saying that the deployment of Milestone’s update had already started in Europe. Customers in the UK and Germany will be announced on the availability of the solution in the near future.

Put the earlier 2.1 update on, and it's a bit problematic so worthwhile waiting. Voice search is broken (and I use that all the time), plus unstable pausing music (music starts playing again at embarrasing moments).
