iPhone Popularity Overtaken by Android by 2012?

Under: Apple iPhone, Google Android, Phone Business & Stocks
Date: October 9th, 2009

Is the Apple iPhone losing popularity to the likes of Google Android and Nokia Symbian? Well according to an article over on computerworld that just may well be the case with the iPhone slipping in marketshare by 2012.

Apparently Gartner analysts are saying that by 2012 the iPhone will sit in third place at 13.7 percent marketshare while Nokia commands first place with 39 percent and Google Android coming in second with 14.5 percent.

The analysts place Google Android above the iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphones as although it only runs on less than 2 percent of handsets at the moment, Android will surge to 14 percent by 2012.

Do you agree with the analysts, will the iPhone fall in popularity to Android?
