Palm App Catalogue hits 1000 Apps

The obvious leader in the applications store arena is of course the iPhone, but many other smartphone platforms have started their own app store and among the late arrivals is Palm and apps for webOS.

Well according to an article over on top10, the Palm App Catalogue now has 1000 applications available for the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi, and although still lags way behind the likes of the iPhone App Store with almost 100,000 apps and the Android Market with somewhere between 15k and 20k, but it is still a webOS app milestone none the less.

Palm is trying to encourage more developers to create applications for webOS and is also looking to enhance the gaming cred of their smartphones.

One does have to say though, if Palm wants to be in the same App league as the iPhone and Android they have one large climb in front of them.
